![]() ![]() venue is under new management, with Naugatuck native Gary. ![]() Hope you have a great time - I love concerts at the Bijou. The list of entertainment options in downtown Bridgeport again includes the Bijou Theatre. I love La Costa, but it may not fit in your $15 or less budget - but they do have excellent food. There are several places to eat in Market Square - my favorite being Tomato Head. Of course, Market square will be decorated for Christmas and that will be fun to walk through, too. There are several art galleries on Gay Street with local works that are really a lot of fun to browse. If we have time, we often walk down Gay Street (heading toward Old City) to the Mast General Store. To complete your theatre experience our resident foodies have have handpicked a selection of restaurants near Bijou Night Club just perfect for pre-theatre. Can't think of the name of the street right now (maybe State Street?) but it runs parallel to Gay Street and behind the TN Theatre, the new movie theatre and Downtown Grill. There is also a city parking deck across the street (behind & diagonal to Downtown Grill) that is free of charge in the evenings. The multi-story facility in Old Town is celebrating an anniversary that few in the LGBT community can boastand it is even more rewarding considering the Bijou's early years, which were filled with protests, police raids, the AIDS epidemic and more. There is a parking deck (sometimes free - sometimes they charge, I think) directly behind the restaurant and you can enter Downtown Grill through the back door. The Bijou Theatre has been a constant in Chicago's LGBT community, now ready to celebrate a merry milestone: 40 years. So we order 2 appetizers and usually a couple of beers each and never spend more than $20 for the 2 of us. They have happy hour specials on appetizers. If you get there between 4-7 during happy hour you can easily spend less than $15pp. We like to eat at Downtown Grill & Brewery (on Gay Street) before doing concerts, etc, downtown.
